 Trail Information

Full Review: Don't be fooled by the length of the hike. It's short, but by the time you reach the peak you'll feel like you've been at it for hours. When you get there, plan to take a while to examine the castle-like rock formations and absorb the views that run from the Simi Hills to the entire San Fernando Valley.

You'll see the gated entrance to the wide dirt path at the intersection of Vanowen and Sunset Ridge. Hop the gate, turn to the right, and start walking. When you reach the first split, turn right to go down a narrow path. It dips, then climbs, putting you onto an intersecting trail. Turn left here, then make an immediate right onto a path that climbs straight up to the peak. If you're first reaction on seeing this steep path is, "No way!" then you're headed in the right direction. You'll have to do some scrambling, and you'll probably do some slipping as well. But it's easier than it looks from the base. When you're done, go back the way you came (carefully, please).
