 Trail Information

Full Review: Round up the young'uns and toss them in the minivan. This traipse across the old Paramount grounds combines Nature 101 with some movie cowboy flair. It's an ideal intro to the great outdoors for anyone too young or too impatient to appreciate a longer haul.

From the parking area just outside the ranger station, walk south and pick up the trail as it parallels the creek. At the first intersection, turn left. Then take a detour to the left up to a lookout point and retrace your steps back to the main trail.

The path runs parallel to Mulholland at this point. Soon you'll reach a signed intersection that points you to the Medea Creek Trail (left). Follow it a short distance until it puts you at another split. Here the trail runs both left and right. Take the high road on the left, which takes you through a fairytale woodland before returning you to the main road.

Turn left at the road and follow it back toward the parking lot, turning left to cross Medea Creek on the bridge. This takes you to Western Town, where you might recognize buildings from "The Cisco Kid" (1950s) or "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" (1990s) or countless productions in between. The big grassy area across the way makes a great picnic spot.
