A very challenging climb to
LA's highest peak (10,064 ft.). The trail takes you through a creek-lined
canyon and a lush, fern meadow before starting the steep ascent.

the parking area. Parking: To park anywhere in Angeles National Forest, you must
display an Adventure Pass permit, which you can buy at any open ranger
station. Cost per car is $5 a day or $30 a year.

Full Review: Old Baldy is the peak every LA hiker should top at some
point in their SoCal existence. Not just because it's the tallest, but
because you can drive to the trailhead from the ocean in about an hour, then
look down from any number of snowy overlooks to see the Pacific shimmering
