 Trail Information

Full Review: Runyon Canyon has a reputation for being the place where celebrities go to walk their dogs. More realistically, it's the place where celebrity dog walkers go to walk the celebrities' dogs. It's also the place where would-be starlets take their terriers in hopes of being spotted by some Hollywood hotshot who might drop-kick their careers out of the doghouse. Bottom line: it's a scene.
To any city-dwelling canine, however, Runyon Canyon is simply doggy heaven. It's a wide open space where pooches can play, leash free, while their human counterparts go about their silly business.

Numerous trails run through the canyon and along each ridge. This one climbs the east ridge for views of the city. After passing through the main entrance, walk up the paved, palm-lined road to the no-leash zone. A wide dirt trail curves to the right, passing by an abandoned tennis court (part of actor Errol Flynn's old estate) as it takes you up to a wide, flat lookout point. Scramble up the hill for an added challenge, or make this your final stop.
