Trail Information
Full Review: The City of Industry. It's
not a name that inspires oohs and ahhs among nature lovers. So it's fitting
that even the most scenic of the nearby "wilderness" areas, Schabarum
Regional Park, is no dazzler. Still, this little patch of open space in the
middle of an otherwise densely developed area offers a good-sized dose of
tranquility for city dwellers. And, on an unusually clear day, views can
stretch all the way to Old Baldy.
You can pick up the Schabarum Trail on the east side of the park, just
behind the eucalyptus trees. Follow it up and around to the park's
Equestrian Center, continuing on the trail as it veers left past the horses.
Follow the fire road until a trail marker points you left, where Schabarum
zig-zags uphill before straightening out to a ridgetop path overlooking a
Rowland Heights neighborhood. This takes you all the way down to where the
path empties out onto Fullerton Rd.
Stick to the path as it parallels Fullerton, eventually winding back around
to the right, into the park. Follow the fire road all the way back around,
passing the junction where you first turned uphill, passing the Equestrian
Center again, and finally revisiting the beginning stretch of trail that
takes you back to the parking lot.
