Scott's Seafood Grill & Bar is well-known
restaurant chain
with many locations in the San
Francisco bay area.
We are very lucky that we
have one of their restaurants here in Orange
County. Scott's in the OC
is located right across the street from South Coast Plaza
near the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
Alicia and I decide to try them out before
attending a show at the Center.
When we arrived, we noticed that there is not
much parking and you have to valet your car.
Once we stepped inside we noticed the huge
open kitchen, which is a true delight being able
to see what the chefs are preparing. We noticed that they were serving
a prix fixe menu, a prix fixe menu is simply a collection of pre-determined items presented as a multi course meal at a set price.
Seeing this... we both decided to give it a shot. I
ordered the quartet of oysters with spicy melon mignonette (first course), Asian pear salad
with lavender vinaigrette & toasted almonds (second course),
seared scallops
with sweet corn and leek risotto & guajillo essence (third course), and
their duet of chocolate terrine/broken truffles with godiva sauce (fourth course).
Alicia had the same second course, but she had
the imported hamachi with shishito peppers and togarashi (first course),
skillet roasted salmon with mélange of shitake mushrooms, artichoke hearts,
and bloomfield spinach (second course), and then
the steamed lemon soufflé with fresh raspberry jam
& butter cookies (fourth course).
All of the food was delicious but
the portions were extremely small. As an example
my scallops only came with two scallops and a
small amount of risotto. We really enjoyed the
meal, but this isn't the place to go if you are
really hungry.
Scott's is located in an excellent location for dinner if you
are power shopping at South Coast Plaza or
attending a
show at the Orange County Performing Arts
Center. Just be sure to if you order a prix fixe
menu that you are not really hungry, like we were
;)
